Information bulletins We keep our shipowners and managers abreast of regulatory developments and operational matters with regular updates. Guidance We provide our ship owning clients with practical advice of new legal requirements, operational matters and interpretations of existing shipping legislation. Safety Watch Updates Information gained by BMSR from the Safety Watch statistical database together with experience gained from the operation of the Barbados registered fleet, where thought to be of immediate importance to our ship operators, this information is circulated to all the fleet via the Information Bulletins. Condition Mapping Reports (CMR) The condition mapping concept was developed as a result of the monitoring of PSC detention lists. This study indicated that the presence onboard of valid statutory certificates is no guarantee that a vessel is not operating with deficiencies serious enough to warrant a PSC detention. The mapping reports, which are continually updated following the attendance onboard of a BMSR Nautical Inspector, are provided to the ship operator in chart form annually. The basis of this reporting is the Condition Trend Assessment (CTA) that the inspector is required to complete following his attendance onboard. The trend assessment allows the inspector to record his impression of the ship in four defined categories using the ship's actual age as the benchmark. Both the CTA and CMR are operated and supplied to the operators at no charge. Barbados Shipowners Association and Technical Committee Barbados maintains two forums through which shipowners and managers may participate in the running of the registry.
