ISO 9001

The work of a Ship Registry relies on the consistent application of processes to both ensure the proper registration of title against vessel and any liens or mortgages that may be recorded against that title. In addition the same level of consistency is required to be applied to the provision of guidance and statutory interpretations given to operators of Barbados registered ships.

This level of controlled delivery of services requires an administrative system capable of monitoring those services provided.

Due to the specialised nature of Ship Registration services, the development of an administrative system is best carried out by persons who have first-hand knowledge concerning the daily work and responsibilities of a Flag State. To ensure that such a system is fit for purpose and remains so during its lifetime it is recommended that it has been approved as compliant with an international standard for quality systems.

To this end BMSR was one of the first Ship Registries in 2003 to be certified as ISO 9001 compliant. In our case this confirmation comes from Germanischer Lloyd Classification Society.
